Bed and Breakfast Getaway – What to Expect

Do you need to get away, but sick and tired of the boring tv and the bed's only hotel rooms down the road? Whether you are on your honeymoon or just looking for a rejuvenating day off, a bed and breakfast is definitely the place for you. They are best known for the excellent combination of delicious breakfasts and cozy rooms plus the extra friendly atmosphere and welcoming service.

When reserving a room, be sure to ask the staff for details and room facilities – the basic would be the room size and the number of beds available. Sometimes when they say "single" on their ads, it can refer to either a single double bed or could be a room with a double bed instead. The term "double" may differ from having two single beds to a double bed.

If you are careful with bathrooms, you should definitely require confirmation of their details. It is common to expect a bathroom that contains everything from a small closet with only a toilet, sink and a shower in a room. Some offer separate bath and shower. Short, historical footnote to this would be many of these bed and breakfast places are old houses that did not have indoor plumbing as they were previously built so the bathroom was added later when space is available. Some offer shared baths in a common area. If you want to avoid an awkward scenario with the other guests, it may be worth paying a little extra to get a room with a bathroom for yourself.

Most places do not offer a television, phone or even internet service in their rooms – which actually adds the charm of these places. The usual arrangement is to have all these items arranged in a social area for other guests to gather around. But again, at the age of smart phones and mobile internet connections, it may not be uncomfortable to some. But initially, the concept is to allow guests to enjoy time with each other and possibly socialize with the other guests.

The most wonderful thing to expect in a bed and breakfast would be the wonderful food to greet you when you wake up in the morning to start your day. Innkeepers are proud to serve delicious homemade meals. Before booking a room, it is also good to make sure that the place offers the kind of meals you prefer. Worth your time by choosing the right places to stay in during your vacation.
